Beerappa’s life wasn’t easy. He comes from the Kuruba community, where most people herd sheep and don’t have fancy schools or lots of money. His dad, Siddappa, and mom, Balavva, work hard taking care of their flock. Beerappa went to a regular village school and then got a B.Tech degree, which is like super smart! He wanted to join the Army like his big brother, who’s a soldier, but he couldn’t because of some rules. So, he worked at India Post for a bit, but he quit to chase his big dream of becoming an IAS or IPS officer. That’s when he started studying for UPSC, one of the toughest exams in India!

Studying for UPSC was crazy hard for Beerappa. He tried twice before and didn’t make it, which probably made him super sad. But he didn’t give up! He moved to a city for coaching and studied day and night, using books and newspapers. On April 22, 2025, when the results came out, he was in Nanawadi visiting relatives, just chilling with the sheep. Then his phone buzzed with the news—he got AIR 551! His whole village threw a big party right there in the grasslands, with music and dancing. His family did a special aarti, put a garland on him, and even gave him a cute baby lamb as a gift! How adorable is that?

Beerappa’s so happy because he wants to be an IPS officer, like a super cool police boss. His dad told The Hindu he’s proud but doesn’t know much about UPSC, just that Beerappa’s super hardworking. Karnataka’s Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, called to say congrats, which is like a big deal! Beerappa’s uncle, Yallappa, said he hopes Beerappa helps poor people like them when he’s a big officer. I bet he will, because he sounds so nice!
